Samajwadi Party (SP), led by Akhilesh Yadav, has launched a sharp attack on the Uttar Pradesh government, accusing it of taking ill-informed decisions that undermine its carefully crafted public image. Addressing party workers, Yadav alleged that the government’s claims of development and investment are largely superficial and fail to reflect ground realities.

At the center of the criticism is a ₹25,000 crore memorandum of understanding (MoU) related to artificial intelligence. Yadav questioned the credibility of the deal, pointing out that the company involved was recently established and has minimal financial standing. In a sarcastic remark, he said the government should have “consulted AI before signing an AI agreement,” highlighting what he described as a lack of due diligence.

The SP chief further claimed that such inflated announcements risk damaging Uttar Pradesh’s reputation among genuine investors. According to him, these “headline-driven” decisions create confusion and discourage serious business engagement with the state. Yadav also revived concerns over alleged corruption, referring to past controversies involving bureaucratic practices.

He suggested that a system of commissions continues to hinder transparency and efficiency, thereby affecting governance. Expanding his critique, he accused the ruling dispensation of neglecting farmers and small industries. He pointed to issues such as shortages of essential commodities, including cooking gas, and rising costs of agricultural inputs. These challenges, he said, are adding to public distress.
