Samajwadi Party (SP) National President Akhilesh Yadav strongly criticized the central government over the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, calling it a complete failure of both governance and intelligence agencies. He expressed his views while addressing the public during a statue unveiling ceremony in Khiriya village.
Akhilesh Yadav said the government had assured people of complete safety, stating that there would be no terrorist attack. Trusting these promises, many people visited the region, but unfortunately, they lost their lives in the attack. “These people will never return now,” he said somberly, adding, “The government must now take strong and effective steps to prevent such tragedies.”
Yadav further stated that while Pakistan and terrorists are directly responsible for the attack, it is equally important to take strict action against their supporters within the country. “This incident is extremely sad. The entire nation is mourning,” he remarked. He emphasized that all political parties are united in their support for the government in its fight against terrorism.
He noted that incidents like this have occurred in the past as well, and that while he does not want to politicize the issue or escalate tensions, it is crucial to ask serious questions. “Everyone knows something went wrong. Even children are feeling that something isn’t right. But no one is speaking up,” he said. “Why did the security fail? Who is responsible? These questions must be answered.” He also urged the ruling BJP not to use this tragedy for political gain. He pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for strict action, and multiple agencies, including intelligence services and state police, are already investigating the matter.
He said, “this attack was a planned conspiracy,” he said. It must be examined thoroughly to find out who was behind it. And once the truth is out, the strictest action must be taken against those responsible. Yadav appealed for justice for the victims and reiterated the importance of unity, strong intelligence, and non-political handling of such sensitive national issues.
