Karpoori Thakur, known as the “Messiah of the Poor,” served as the Chief Minister of Bihar and left an indelible mark on Indian politics with his dedication to social justice and empowerment. Born on January 24, 1924, in Pitaunjhia village in Bihar, Thakur rose from humble beginnings to become a towering figure in Indian politics. His relentless efforts to uplift marginalized communities and his uncompromising honesty earned him the admiration and respect of people across the country.

Akhilesh Yadav also highlighted the need to uphold the values championed by Karpoori Thakur in today’s socio-political climate. “In a time when the gaps between the privileged and the underprivileged are widening, we must fight for social justice and ensure that the vision of leaders like Karpoori Thakur ji is realized,” he stated. The ceremony included floral tributes and speeches by prominent party leaders, who reflected on Thakur’s enduring legacy. Many recalled his landmark policies, such as the implementation of reservations for backward classes in Bihar, which set a precedent for other states in India.
The event served as a reminder of the Samajwadi Party’s commitment to the ideals of socialism, equality, and justice. Akhilesh Yadav urged party members to work tirelessly to carry forward the mission of leaders like Karpoori Thakur and to create a society where everyone, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to thrive.
