Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has voiced sharp concern over the ongoing fuel situation in the country, using a blend of sarcasm and seriousness in a recent post on X. Referring to a reported shortage of petrol and oil, he remarked that no one should use the excuse of fuel scarcity to skip an inauguration ceremony scheduled for the following day. “If they don’t attend, they won’t even have to greet anyone, though they may choose to offer ‘adaab’ instead of ‘namaste’ if they wish,” he quipped, hinting at political undertones behind the situation.

Beyond the remark, Yadav highlighted a much deeper issue affecting millions across the country. With reports of a scramble for petrol and fuel following an earlier gas shortage, he stressed that the matter is not merely logistical but directly linked to people’s daily lives. From transportation to small businesses and large industries, the availability of fuel plays a vital role in keeping the economic engine running.
He emphasized that in such circumstances, it becomes the responsibility of the central government to maintain transparent and effective communication with all states and Union Territories. Rather than allowing confusion or speculation to spread, authorities must present the true picture of the situation to the public. According to Yadav, misleading narratives only worsen public anxiety and disrupt normal life.
Calling the issue “serious,” he pointed out that fuel shortages can directly impact food supply chains, employment, and overall economic stability. “There is no substitute for hunger,” he noted, underlining the urgency of the matter. Yadav’s remarks reflect growing concerns over resource management and governance, urging accountability and clarity at a time when citizens seek reassurance and stability.
