Recently, I came across something very serious that I feel I must talk about. The national president of the Samajwadi Party, Akhilesh Yadav, is rightfully angry and hurt. The reason? The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has now crossed all limits in trying to defame the Samajwadi Party and its leaders through false and objectionable content on social media.
Akhilesh Yadav strongly condemned this act through his official X (formerly Twitter) account. He called it a heinous act and clearly said this is no less serious than an FIR. And I agree. Just because it’s happening on social media doesn’t make it any less dangerous. In fact, it might be even worse because such fake content spreads quickly and misleads innocent people.
What’s even more shocking is that some anti-social elements are posting terrible things online using fake profiles, similar names, and even morphed photos of Samajwadi Party leaders and their family members. This is a planned conspiracy. Whether it’s for political benefit or to harm someone’s image for economic reasons, it’s clear that there is a group of cunning people behind this. And maybe, some others are simply being used without even realizing it.
Let me make it clear: the Samajwadi Party has nothing to do with these pictures, posts, or ideas. The leaders and supporters of the party are being targeted unfairly. We all know how easy it has become these days to create fake news and make it look real. But that doesn’t mean we should accept it quietly.
What’s more disappointing is that the BJP-led government, which has full control over cyber security agencies, is doing nothing about it. Akhilesh Yadav rightly pointed out that if they actually wanted to take action, they could catch the culprits in not 24 hours, but even in 24 minutes. They have the tools, they have the power — all that’s missing is the will to act.
So why is there a delay? Is the silence from BJP a sign of support for these dirty tactics? Are they waiting for someone to give them the green signal from above? This is a question we must all ask.
Politics should be about development, progress, and working for the people — not about spreading lies and ruining reputations. As a citizen and a responsible social media user, I believe we must call out such behavior whenever we see it. If someone can defame today without consequences, then tomorrow it could happen to anyone. It’s high time the government takes serious action against these online attackers. The truth must win, and those who believe in justice and democracy must stand together.
