Mr. Firat Sunel, Türkiye’s Ambassador to India, hosted a grand celebration of Türkiye’s 101st National Day at his residence, on October 25, 2024, located at 22 Prithviraj Road, New Delhi. The event was a testament to the growing diplomatic ties between Türkiye and India, with high-profile guests from politics, business, and cultural sectors attending the occasion. Mr. Arun Kumar Chatterjee, Secretary of the Consular, Passport, Visa, and Overseas Indian Affairs (CPV & OIA) Division, was the chief guest from the Indian government, reflecting the close relationship between the two nations.
Ambassador Sunel emphasized the significance of the event, not only as a commemoration of Türkiye’s achievements but also as a celebration of the deepening India-Türkiye partnership. He highlighted the importance of people-to-people connections and expressed gratitude to Indian officials and dignitaries for their continuous support. The evening also showcased with Turkish cuisine, including kebabs, shawarma, doner and baklava, specially prepared by chefs from Türkiye.
The celebration was marked by a warm, festive atmosphere, reflecting the cultural and diplomatic harmony between both nations. Ambassador Sunel noted that the large turnout demonstrated Türkiye’s growing popularity and friendship with India, underscoring the shared values and aspirations between the two countries. The event follows Türkiye’s grand 100-anniversary celebrations in India last year. This continuity of celebrations reflects the momentum in bilateral relations, particularly in diplomacy, tourism, and cultural exchange.
This year’s event also included, such as lucky draws with flight tickets and vacation vouchers to popular Turkish destinations, adding excitement for the attendees. Ambassador Sunel, welcomed the guests, reinforcing the warmth and hospitality that Türkiye prides itself on. The National Day celebration at the Ambassador’s residence served as an important platform for strengthening the India-Türkiye relationship, fostering goodwill, and promoting cultural understanding between the two nations.
