In a key legislative move, Kuwait’s Committee for Regulating Humanitarian and Charitable Work approved a draft of the new Humanitarian Work Law during its seventh meeting held recently. The initiative aims to modernize the legal framework governing charitable and humanitarian efforts across the country. The key objectives of the law are to enhance governance and transparency, promote accountability in project implementation, boost operational efficiency for humanitarian initiatives and align with international best practices, reports Al-Rai daily.

The meeting was chaired by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef, with participation from key government stakeholders. The ministry affirmed that this step underscores Kuwait’s continued commitment to reinforcing its humanitarian leadership on both regional and global fronts. The committee stressed that the law is part of a broader national strategy, including field visits to Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries to study effective regulatory models and financial oversight systems.

Officials noted that the law also aligns with Kuwait’s long-standing legacy of institutional giving and reinforces its status as a regional benchmark in charitable and humanitarian efforts. This legislative approval is viewed as a milestone toward ensuring sustainable social impact and strengthening Kuwait’s ability to respond effectively to the needs of local and international beneficiaries.
