Senior journalist Dilip Sinha tragically passed away yesterday after being hit by a Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) bus near Lohia Path, Jiamau in Lucknow. The incident occurred in the afternoon as he was riding his scooter towards the busy Lohia crossing. The bus, reportedly en route to Kanpur from the Balrampur depot, struck him from the side, throwing him to the road. Despite efforts to save him, he was declared dead upon arrival at the Civil Hospital. The bus driver fled the scene after the accident, and the police have since registered an FIR and are analyzing CCTV footage to identify and apprehend the driver.
Dilip Sinha was a well-respected figure in the media fraternity of Uttar Pradesh. He began his career as a sub-editor with Navjivan and remained committed to journalism throughout his life. The news of his demise has cast a pall of gloom over the journalist community. The Indian Federation of Working Journalists and the Uttar Pradesh Accreditation Committee expressed deep sorrow over his sudden passing. Condolence messages poured in from across the state, including senior politicians, media houses, and social activists. Uttar Pradesh Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana called Sinha a “dedicated journalist who stood for the truth, even in challenging times.” His sudden death, Mahana added, is a huge loss to journalism and to the state.
