The State of Kuwait has issued a strong condemnation of the recent Israeli attacks on the Islamic Republic of Iran, labeling them a blatant violation of international law and a serious threat to the fragile stability of the Middle East. In a rapidly evolving and volatile geopolitical environment, Kuwait has intensified its diplomatic outreach to prevent further escalation and advocate for de-escalation through peaceful means.

Leading the diplomatic efforts, Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya, who also holds the current chairmanship of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Ministerial Council, has engaged in a flurry of telephone diplomacy with key regional and international actors. According to the Al-Rai daily, these discussions are part of Kuwait’s broader and consistent strategy to support regional security and to encourage dialogue over confrontation.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a firm statement condemning the Israeli military actions, characterizing them as “a flagrant breach of Iranian sovereignty” and “an alarming escalation that endangers peace and security in the wider region.” The Ministry reiterated its call for immediate international intervention, urging the United Nations Security Council to take decisive and concrete measures to halt Israeli violations and to restore calm across borders.

As part of his diplomatic engagements, Minister Al-Yahya held talks with several foreign ministers, including Bahrain’s Abdullatif Al Zayani, Qatar’s Sultan Al Muraikhi, and Iran’s Abbas Araghchi. These consultations were aimed at building a collective stance among Gulf nations and maintaining lines of communication with all concerned parties.

In a notable gesture of solidarity, Al-Yahya’s conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi emphasized Kuwait’s rejection of violence and escalation. He expressed support for the Iranian people and underlined the urgency of pursuing collective diplomatic and political solutions to avoid further destabilization.

Further strengthening regional coordination, Al-Yahya also received phone calls from Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi. The talks focused on assessing the broader consequences of the Israeli attacks and exploring strategic Gulf initiatives to shield the region from wider conflict. Al-Yahya also consulted with GCC Secretary-General Jassim Al-Budaiwi to align the Council’s approach toward a unified response.

A clear and consistent message emerged from all these conversations: the need for enhanced cooperation to preserve regional peace and prevent the situation from spiraling into a broader war. Kuwait’s diplomatic push reflects its longstanding commitment to peaceful resolution of conflicts and regional harmony.

Meanwhile, Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued an advisory for Kuwaiti nationals currently residing in areas affected by the escalating tensions. Citizens were urged to adhere to local safety protocols and, if possible, evacuate high-risk zones promptly. The Ministry has activated two emergency hotline numbers for assistance: (+965-159) and (+965-22225504), underscoring its commitment to the safety and security of its people abroad. Kuwait’s proactive stance not only reaffirms its principled foreign policy based on peace and legality but also highlights the vital role smaller states can play in diplomacy during crises.
