Kuwait is all set to host the 45th Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit, scheduled for December 1, 2024. In a recent weekly session chaired by His Highness Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Kuwait’s Cabinet reviewed the nation’s readiness and extended a warm welcome to their Majesties and Highnesses, the GCC leaders, as well as their accompanying delegations and guests.
The Cabinet underscored the significance of this Gulf event, which reflects the enduring historical relationships and shared purpose of GCC member states. It highlighted the unity of purpose and common destiny that bind the Gulf nations together, emphasizing the need to strengthen ties and further progress in all areas. By fostering cooperation, the summit aims to meet the hopes and aspirations of GCC leaders and their people.
The GCC Summit serves as a vital forum for addressing pressing regional and global challenges. It gathers leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders from across the Gulf, creating opportunities for dialogue on key issues such as economic diversification, environmental sustainability, and regional stability. The inclusion of an extensive delegation of international media underscores the global significance of this gathering.
Kuwait’s Minister for Information and Culture, Abdul Rahman Al-Mutairi, has crafted a robust program to engage the international media covering the event. Activities begin on November 29 with the opening of a state-of-the-art press center, designed to facilitate seamless coverage of the summit. This will be followed by the inauguration of a media exhibition, which will showcase the GCC’s milestones, cultural heritage, and future aspirations, presenting a compelling narrative of the region’s achievements and vision.
A key highlight of the day is an interactive dialogue session with Jassim Al-Budaiwi, Secretary General of the GCC. This session will provide journalists with a rare opportunity to engage directly with one of the Gulf’s leading figures. Discussions will focus on the council’s strategic goals, initiatives, and the role of media in advancing the GCC’s mission of unity and progress.
On November 30, international media representatives will have the chance to explore Kuwait’s rich cultural and intellectual offerings. A visit to the Kuwait International Book Fair at 11:30 AM will introduce the delegation to a diverse collection of literature from the Arab world and beyond. This annual event highlights Kuwait’s dedication to cultural enrichment and intellectual growth.
In the evening, at 6:30 PM, the delegation will tour the Abdullah Al Salem Cultural Center, home to the GCC Section. This world-class institution offers exhibitions that blend science, history, and art, providing a comprehensive view of the Gulf states’ history, achievements, and aspirations.
The 45th GCC Summit comes at a pivotal moment as the Gulf navigates complex economic and geopolitical challenges. It represents a platform for deepening regional collaboration and reinforcing the GCC’s global role. For Kuwait, the event also showcases its position as a hub of culture and diplomacy in the Gulf.
As the world turns its attention to Kuwait, the summit promises to be a landmark event, exemplifying the GCC’s commitment to unity, progress, and shared aspirations. By combining high-level discussions with cultural immersion, it offers a holistic experience for all participants, paving the way for a stronger and more cohesive Gulf region.
