Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath continues to shape the state’s transformation into an industrial and infrastructural hub under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Their strong partnership, often referred to as the “double-engine government,” is driving unprecedented development across UP. During a recent visit to Kanpur, Prime Minister Modi, alongside Chief Minister Yogi, inaugurated and laid the foundation for 15 major projects worth ₹47,600 crore, underscoring the region’s growing momentum of development.
These included the second phase of the Kanpur Metro, power generation units, roads, flyovers, treatment plants, and modern urban facilities elevating Kanpur to the standards of India’s leading metro cities. PM Modi emphasized UP’s vital role in India’s defense sector, applauding the transformation of seven ordnance factories into modern defense companies. The Kanpur node of the UP Defense Corridor, guided by CM Yogi’s proactive governance, is emerging as a strategic center for Make in India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India).
With BrahMos missile manufacturing and AK-203 rifle production in Amethi, the state is fast becoming a defense manufacturing and export hub. CM Yogi Adityanath’s focus on law and order, infrastructure, and transparent governance has made UP a magnet for investors. Under his administration, projects like the Kanpur-Lucknow Expressway, soon to reduce travel time to just 45 minutes, and the upgradation of Kanpur Central Railway Station into a world-class facility, reflect a larger vision to transform connectivity and urban living.
The CM’s leadership has also strengthened the power sector, with new thermal power projects in Panki, Obra-C, Jawaharpur, and Khurja, providing over 5,000 MW of electricity to meet growing demand. This energy boost supports industries and MSMEs across UP, especially in traditional sectors like leather, hosiery, and textiles. PM Modi highlighted that schemes like MUDRA loans, MSME credit cards, and One District, One Product (ODOP) are empowering small businesses and artisans.
These initiatives, backed by CM Yogi’s hands-on implementation approach, are creating local employment and promoting entrepreneurship across towns and villages. The launch of Ayushman Bharat cards, support to self-help groups, and the PM Surya Ghar Yojana further demonstrate the government’s inclusive development model, ensuring welfare reaches the last mile. CM Yogi’s administration is also playing a key role in improving public transportation. The extension of the Orange Line of Kanpur Metro to the central railway station is a significant step toward decongesting city traffic and easing daily commutes for students, traders, and travelers alike.
With over 150 railway stations being modernized and UP set to have the highest number of international airports, Yogi Adityanath has positioned the state at the forefront of India’s infrastructure revolution. As PM Modi rightly said, under the strong and visionary leadership of CM Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh is transforming into the industrial and economic powerhouse of New India a model of rapid development, national pride, and global potential.
