The Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Iraq recently convened a high-level discussion session focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of transport. The meeting brought together Eng. Said bin Hamoud Al Maawali, Oman’s Minister of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, and his Iraqi counterpart, Razzaq Muhaibis Al-Saadawi, Minister of Transport for Iraq.
Held in Baghdad, the capital of Iraq, the meeting provided a platform for both sides to explore opportunities for collaboration in transport infrastructure and logistics. Discussions revolved around developing joint transport initiatives that would benefit both nations, particularly in improving regional connectivity and enhancing trade routes.
The two ministers emphasized the importance of boosting cooperation in the logistics sector, given its growing role in supporting economic growth and regional integration. The talks also aimed to identify strategic areas where Oman and Iraq could complement each other’s efforts to modernize their respective transport systems, including land, sea, and air connectivity.
The session was attended by senior officials from both governments, reflecting the shared commitment to building a sustainable partnership. The meeting concluded with a mutual understanding to continue coordination through technical teams and follow-up mechanisms to ensure the progress of proposed initiatives.
This dialogue highlights the broader vision of both countries to work together on regional development and economic integration. Strengthening transport ties between Oman and Iraq is expected to open new avenues for trade, investment, and the movement of goods and people, reinforcing their positions as key players in the region’s transportation and logistics networks.
