The Tender Board began 2026 with a strong push toward development, approving projects and additional works worth RO 32,597,355 across key sectors. The first meeting of the year was held on Thursday under the chairmanship of Dr. Khamis Saif Al Jabri, Minister of Economy and Chairman of the Board, reflecting the government’s continued focus on infrastructure, public services, and community welfare.
Among the most significant approvals was the construction of two flood protection dams on Wadi Al Ansab in Muscat Governorate, valued at OMR 9,750,000. This project is expected to enhance safety and reduce flood risks in vulnerable areas. In the healthcare sector, the Board approved the supply of peritoneal dialysis requirements worth OMR 8,390,285, ensuring continued support for patients requiring critical treatment.
Sports infrastructure also received attention, with OMR 4,650,000 allocated for consultancy services to design Phase 3 of the stadium within the Integrated Sports City. Meanwhile, OMR 3,268,530 was approved to replace air conditioning units at the Ministry of Finance as part of broader rehabilitation works.
In Dhofar Governorate, additional works were approved for a tunnel at the intersection of Ittin Road and 18th of November Street in Salalah (OMR 3,203,151), along with OMR 700,000 for cutting the Rakhyut-Dhalkut coastal dirt road. Road maintenance in Tawi Atair, Wadi Rakh, and Jibjat was also supported.
The Board further endorsed IT upgrades, waste management improvements, consultancy services for the Oman Botanic Garden, and even the purchase of broadcasting rights for the FIFA Arab Cup 2025 in Qatar, demonstrating a balanced approach to development that spans infrastructure, environment, technology, and sports.
