The Sultanate of Oman participated on October 5 in the 13th meeting of the Senior Officials Committee of the Economic and Development Affairs Authority of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), held in the State of Kuwait. The Omani delegation was led by Dr. Nasser Rashid Al Maawali, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy.

The meeting discussed a wide range of topics focusing on the progress of economic integration among GCC member states, with particular attention to addressing obstacles to achieving economic unity and proposing effective solutions to accelerate its realization. The officials also deliberated on updating the timeline for achieving full economic unity and reviewing the comments and feedback submitted by individual member states regarding this goal.

Furthermore, the Committee examined the action plan and mechanism for developing the Gulf Economic Model, which aims to strengthen the foundations of sustainable economic cooperation within the GCC. Preparations for organizing a GCC economic conference and dialogue sessions to be held in various member states in the coming year were also discussed, as part of efforts to enhance collective Gulf dialogue on development priorities. The Office of the Economic and Development Affairs Authority presented detailed reports on the studies and projects currently under review, emphasizing their importance in promoting regional economic growth and diversification.

The meeting concluded with the adoption of several recommendations, which will be submitted to the upcoming meeting of the Permanent Preparatory Committee at the Ministerial Level of the Economic and Development Affairs Authority, scheduled to take place on October 9. The discussions reaffirmed the GCC’s collective commitment to advancing economic integration, sustainable development, and regional cooperation in pursuit of a unified Gulf economic vision.
