Muscat Municipality has announced the inauguration of the tallest flagpole in the Sultanate of Oman on Friday, May 23, 2025. This landmark structure is located in Al Khuwair Square, within the Ministries District of Muscat, and spans a vast area of over 18,000 square metres. Standing at an impressive height of 126 metres, the flagpole is a symbol of national pride and engineering excellence. It has been constructed using 135 tonnes of iron and steel. The base of the pole has an outer diameter of 2,800 mm, gradually narrowing to 900 mm at its peak. The giant Omani flag to be hoisted on the pole measures 18 metres in length and 31.5 metres in width, making it clearly visible from a great distance. To ensure safety, especially for low-flying aircraft, the flagpole is equipped with a specialized aircraft warning lighting system. This monumental structure not only celebrates Oman’s national identity but also enhances the aesthetic and cultural appeal of the Ministries District. It is expected to become a significant landmark for residents and visitors alike. The inauguration marks a proud moment in the nation’s ongoing development and commitment to honoring its heritage.
