Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, recently declared that Israel’s ongoing violations of international law undermine global efforts to achieve a two-state solution. Speaking at an emergency ministerial meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), convened to address Israel’s aggression against Palestinians, Prince Faisal warned that Israel’s actions, conducted without accountability, threaten both regional and global security. The meeting focused on Israel’s devastating military campaign in Gaza and its recent approval of plans to occupy Gaza City, a move widely condemned by the international community.

Prince Faisal called for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and urged the global community to end Israel’s occupation. He expressed Saudi Arabia’s support for mediation efforts by Egypt and Qatar to secure a ceasefire, noting that a brief truce earlier this year had not been successfully extended. The Kingdom firmly rejects Israel’s settlement expansion and comments promoting a “greater Israel vision,” which Prince Faisal described as detrimental to peace efforts. He reiterated Saudi Arabia’s unwavering commitment to establishing a Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders.

Highlighting growing international support for Palestinian statehood, Prince Faisal noted that an increasing number of countries are recognizing a Palestinian state, driven by Saudi Arabia’s diplomatic push. He urged nations hesitant to condemn Israel’s actions to reconsider their stance, emphasizing the need for accountability. The minister also called for global support for UN agencies operating in Palestinian territories, stressing the importance of empowering Palestinian national institutions to build a sustainable future.

The OIC meeting underscored the urgency of addressing Israel’s violations, which Prince Faisal argued destabilize the international order. Saudi Arabia’s stance reflects its broader commitment to advocating for Palestinian rights and fostering regional stability. By rallying international support and condemning expansionist policies, the Kingdom aims to strengthen the global push for a just resolution to the Palestinian issue. Prince Faisal’s remarks signal a resolute call for unity and action, urging the international community to combine efforts to support Palestinians and uphold international law in the face of ongoing challenges.
