The results of the Uttar Pradesh State Headquarters Accredited Correspondents Committee Elections for the 2024-2026 term were announced late night on August 31st, marking a significant milestone for the state’s journalistic community. In a resounding affirmation of his leadership, Senior Journalist Hemant Tiwari was re-elected as President of the prestigious committee for the fifth consecutive term, showcasing the enduring trust and respect he commands among his peers. The successful completion of the election underscores the democratic spirit and commitment to journalistic integrity within the state’s media fraternity.
The election process was meticulously organized to ensure transparency and fairness at every step. Voters were provided with three distinct color-coded ballot papers to streamline the voting process and avoid any confusion. The white ballot paper was designated for the crucial positions of President, Secretary, and Treasurer, reflecting the importance of these roles in steering the committee’s activities. The yellow ballot paper was used for electing the Vice Presidents and Joint Secretary, while the pink ballot paper was reserved for selecting the executive members. This systematic approach facilitated a smooth voting experience for all participants.

To uphold the integrity of the elections, the entire process was conducted under strict surveillance with cameras installed at strategic locations to monitor proceedings closely. The election committee had explicitly stated that any misconduct by candidates or their associates during the voting process would result in immediate disciplinary action. This stringent measure ensured a high level of decorum and adherence to democratic principles throughout the election. The substantial turnout from the 825 authorized voters highlighted the active engagement and enthusiasm of the journalistic community in shaping the committee’s future.
The election results brought a blend of experienced and dynamic individuals to the forefront of the committee’s leadership. Alongside Hemant Tiwari’s remarkable re-election as President, Bharat Singh was chosen as Secretary, and Alok Kumar Tripathi secured the position of Treasurer, both bringing a wealth of experience and commitment to their respective roles. The positions of Vice Presidents were filled by Akaash Shekhar Sharma, Avinash Chandra Mishra, and Raghvendra Tripathi, each expected to contribute significantly to the committee’s strategic initiatives. Vijay Kumar Tripathi was elected as the Joint Secretary, promising to bolster the committee’s administrative efficiency.
The executive committee was further strengthened with the election of members who are respected figures in the journalistic field. The elected Executive Members include Dilip Sinha, Ritesh Singh, Abdul Waheed, Naved Shikoh, Ved Prakash Dixit, Shabihul Hasan, Bhupendra Mani Tripathi, Raghvendra Pratap Singh, Renu Nigam, Shekhar Pandit, Suyash Mishra, and Satyendra Rai. Their diverse expertise and perspectives are anticipated to drive the committee’s mission of promoting journalistic excellence and addressing the pressing issues faced by media professionals in the region.
In recognition of their outstanding contributions and dedication, a special ceremony was held on September 1st where Ved Prakash Dixit, Renu Nigam, and Ritesh Singh were honored by a team of fellow journalists. This gesture not only celebrated their achievements but also underscored the spirit of camaraderie and mutual respect that defines the journalistic community in Uttar Pradesh.
The newly elected committee faces the promising yet challenging task of navigating the evolving media landscape, advocating for press freedom, and addressing the professional needs of journalists across the state.
