BY MOHAMMAD TARIQUE SALEEM

Air defence systems in Kuwait successfully intercepted another round of hostile missile and drone attacks, reassuring residents that the country’s security forces remain fully alert amid rising regional tensions. The announcement was made by the Kuwait Armed Forces, which confirmed that the threats were detected and neutralised before they could cause any harm.

Yesterday, several residents across different parts of the country reported hearing loud explosions in the sky. While such sounds initially caused concern among some citizens, the Kuwait Armed Forces General Staff quickly clarified that the blasts were the result of defence systems successfully intercepting the incoming missiles and drones.

According to the official statement, Kuwaiti air defence units responded immediately after radar systems detected suspicious aerial objects approaching the country’s airspace. Within moments, defence systems were activated and the hostile targets were intercepted mid-air, preventing them from reaching their intended locations.

Military officials reassured the public that the situation remained under control and that the explosions heard by residents were part of the defensive operation. No damage or casualties were reported, highlighting the effectiveness of Kuwait’s advanced air defence network and the readiness of its armed forces.

Authorities have urged citizens and residents to remain calm and to follow security and safety instructions issued by relevant authorities. Officials also stressed the importance of relying on verified information from official channels rather than unconfirmed reports circulating on social media.

In recent years, Kuwait has taken significant steps to strengthen its national defence capabilities. Investments in modern surveillance technology and air defence systems have enhanced the country’s ability to detect and respond quickly to potential threats. Security analysts say the increasing use of drones and missiles in regional conflicts has made air defence a critical priority for many Gulf countries.

Kuwait’s latest successful interception reflects not only its preparedness but also its commitment to protecting its people and maintaining stability. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, maintaining a high level of alert while reassuring the public that the country’s defence forces remain capable and vigilant in safeguarding Kuwait’s skies.
