The Kuwait Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), under the leadership of President Sheikh Humoud Mubarak Humoud Al-Sabah, held a significant round of talks with Indian civil aviation authorities on 15 July in New Delhi. The Indian delegation was led by Samir Kumar, Secretary at the Ministry of Civil Aviation. This high-level meeting marked a renewed commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation in the civil aviation sector, reinforcing the long-standing ties between the two nations.
Speaking to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), President Sheikh Humoud emphasized that the meeting was part of ongoing joint efforts to bolster civil aviation collaboration. He noted that the talks were conducted in a friendly and constructive atmosphere, reflecting the mutual respect and cooperative spirit that characterizes Kuwait-India relations.

During the discussions, both sides expressed appreciation for the deep historical and diplomatic ties that unite the two countries. They exchanged insights and technical knowledge related to civil aviation, focusing on recent trends and challenges in the global air transport market. These exchanges are expected to play a key role in enhancing safety, efficiency, and passenger services in both countries’ aviation sectors.
A major focus of the dialogue was the evaluation of current efforts to modernize and expand the civil aviation infrastructure to meet the growing demand from travelers. The delegations discussed the changing dynamics of air travel, particularly post-pandemic trends, and how both countries can adapt to ensure their aviation sectors remain competitive and responsive to passengers’ needs.
Importantly, the meeting concluded with the signing of a new memorandum of understanding (MoU). This MoU includes provisions designed to support and grow the air transport market between Kuwait and India. It represents a forward-looking agreement that aims to facilitate smoother operations, enhance route connectivity, and encourage greater airline cooperation.

The talks were also notable for the high-level participation from both sides. Attendees included Kuwaiti Ambassador to India Mishal Mustafa Al-Shemali, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kuwait Airways Abdulmohsen Al-Faqan, Chairman of Jazeera Airways Marwan Boodai, a delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and a technical team from the DGCA. This broad representation underscores the importance Kuwait places on strengthening civil aviation ties with India.
With air travel continuing to grow as a vital link between Kuwait and India—home to a large Indian expatriate community and increasing business ties—the outcomes of this meeting are expected to have a positive and lasting impact. The renewed focus on technical cooperation, infrastructure development, and regulatory alignment will serve to benefit travelers and stakeholders alike.
