On October 13, 2025, India reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to peace in the Middle East through its participation in the historic Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit, held in Egypt. The summit, co-hosted by U.S. President Donald Trump and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, marked a significant milestone in the quest for lasting stability in the region. Representing India, Minister of State for External Affairs and Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Shri Kirti Vardhan Singh (MOS KVS), attended as Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s special envoy, underscoring India’s dedication to dialogue and diplomacy.

The summit followed the release of all remaining hostages and the establishment of a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, pivotal steps toward de-escalation. It aimed to strengthen efforts for regional peace, aligning with President Trump’s vision for a sustainable resolution. India welcomed the signing of the landmark Peace Agreement, expressing hope that it would pave the way for enduring peace. This stance reflects India’s longstanding advocacy for a negotiated two-state solution, a position rooted in its belief that dialogue is the cornerstone of conflict resolution.
India’s participation in the summit was not merely symbolic; it was a testament to its proactive role in global diplomacy. The decision to send MOS KVS came after a last-minute invitation from Presidents Trump and Al-Sisi, highlighting India’s growing influence in international peace processes. During the summit, Singh met with President Trump, marking the first high-level interaction between an Indian minister and the U.S. leader since Operation Sindoor. This meeting, held on the sidelines of the summit, reinforced the deepening ties between India and the United States in supporting global stability.
India’s support for the Gaza peace plan, championed by President Trump, was accompanied by appreciation for the instrumental roles played by Egypt and Qatar. Their mediation efforts were crucial in advancing the path to peace, and India’s acknowledgment reflects its respect for collaborative diplomacy. The Sharm El-Sheikh Summit brought together world leaders united in their pursuit of a peaceful Middle East, and India’s presence amplified the call for inclusive, dialogue-driven solutions.
For decades, India has consistently advocated for peace through diplomacy, emphasizing mutual respect and sovereignty. Its endorsement of the Peace Agreement aligns with this ethos, as it continues to support initiatives that foster stability and coexistence. The summit’s outcomes resonate with India’s vision of a world where conflicts are resolved through negotiation rather than confrontation.
As the international community looks toward implementing the Peace Agreement, India stands ready to contribute to efforts that ensure its success. The Sharm El-Sheikh Summit has set a hopeful precedent, and India’s participation signals its unwavering commitment to a peaceful and prosperous Middle East. By championing dialogue and supporting the two-state solution, India continues to play a pivotal role in shaping a future where peace prevails.
