BY MOHAMMAD TARIQUE SALEEM

Kuwait is set to gradually resume international flight operations to 13 countries starting next Sunday, marking an important step toward restoring global air connectivity through Kuwait International Airport. The announcement was made by Abdullah Al-Rajhi, Acting Deputy Director General for Aviation Safety, Air Transport and Civil Aviation Security. According to the plan, the first phase of resumed operations will cover several major destinations including Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, the Philippines, Turkey, India, Sri Lanka, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Bangladesh, Jordan, China, and Pakistan.

These destinations have been selected as part of a carefully managed strategy to reconnect Kuwait with key regional and international routes. Al-Rajhi stated that flights will initially operate from passenger terminals T4 and T5. Around 20 departing flights and an equal number of arriving flights are expected daily during the first phase, bringing the total to approximately 40 flights each day. This initial stage will act as an evaluation period, allowing aviation authorities to monitor operations closely and resolve any issues before moving to the second phase of expansion.

He emphasized that a comprehensive operational plan has been prepared to ensure the highest standards of safety, security, and efficiency. The reopening process is being carried out in close coordination with airports in the destination countries to guarantee smooth travel procedures and uninterrupted services. In the coming phases, authorities plan to increase flight frequencies and may add new destinations depending on operational success and passenger demand. This gradual approach is intended to strengthen Kuwait’s aviation sector while ensuring a seamless travel experience for passengers.

Al-Rajhi also highlighted the importance of cooperation between the Public Authority for Civil Aviation and the Ministry of Interior. Their joint efforts will focus on managing airport traffic, improving ground services, and facilitating passenger movement throughout the airport. Travelers have been urged to follow all official guidelines and cooperate with airport staff to support a safe and efficient transition. The resumption of flights is expected to provide relief to thousands of passengers, expatriates, and businesses waiting for improved international travel options.
