In a milestone event for Indo-Kuwaiti relations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi touched down in Kuwait today, marking the start of a significant two-day official visit on December 21 and 22. Accompanied by a distinguished high-level delegation, the visit carries immense diplomatic and cultural significance, being the first by an Indian Prime Minister to the Gulf nation in 43 years.
Prime Minister Modi’s arrival at Kuwait International Airport was met with an atmosphere of warmth and camaraderie. His Excellency Sheikh Fahd Youssef Al-Sabah, First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Minister of Interior, led the welcoming delegation. Other prominent figures, including Abdulaziz Al-Dakheel, Chief of the Prime Minister’s Diwan, Abdullah Al-Yahya, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Sheikh Dr. Basel Humoud Al-Sabah, Advisor at the Prime Minister’s Diwan and Chief of the Accompanying Mission of Honor, also extended their greetings.
Diplomatic dignitaries such as Ambassador Sameeh Hayat, Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs, and Kuwaiti Ambassador to India, Meshal Al-Shemali, further underscored the importance of the occasion. A vibrant reception awaited the Indian leader, with members of the Indian diaspora in Kuwait enthusiastically gathering to showcase their unwavering support. The diaspora’s celebration reflected the deep-rooted ties between the two nations, stemming from decades of cooperation and cultural exchange.
