The 119th annual Urs of Hazrat Khwaja Mohammad Nabi Raza Shah, popularly known as Dada Miyan (RA), began in Lucknow on September 3 with great spiritual fervour, devotion and grandeur. The five-day Urs-e-Pak, being observed from September 4 to 8 at Astana Dada Miyan, Mall Avenue, has brought together thousands of devotees from different parts of the country and abroad.
What makes the shrine of Dada Miyan particularly special is its atmosphere of love, faith and harmony. People belonging to different religions and communities visit the shrine to pay their respects and seek blessings from the spiritual legacy and teachings of the revered saint. Hazrat Dada Miyan (RA) is remembered for his exemplary character, noble conduct and deep commitment to humanity.

Although he lived for a relatively short period, his spiritual and social contributions left a lasting impression. His teachings continue to inspire countless disciples and devotees in India and overseas, many of whom regard his message as a guiding force in their lives. His spiritual tradition, known as Silsila-e-Jahangiriya, brings together the traditions of Qadiriya, Chishtiya, Suhrawardiya, Firdawsiya, Naqshbandiya and Abul Ulaaiya.
The Urs programme includes Milad Sharif, Chadar Poshi, Halqa-e-Zikr, Mehfil-e-Sama, Tarahi Mushaira, International Seminar, Rang-e-Mehfil, and the Ghusl and Sandal Sharif ceremonies. Lakhs of devotees are expected to participate during the celebrations. The 12th International Seminar will be held on September 6 on the theme “Adab-e-Tariqat aur Shah-e-Raza.”
Renowned scholars, including Mohammad Arif Iqbal Misbahi of Madhubani, Bihar, will participate and discuss the teachings and spiritual message of Dada Miyan. At a time when society is facing divisions and growing intolerance, the Khanqahi tradition of compassion, coexistence and respect for humanity carries a powerful message.
The Urs once again reminds people that faith can become a bridge between communities rather than a source of division. The district administration has made extensive arrangements for the smooth conduct of the Urs. Organisers have expressed gratitude to the administration and all concerned authorities for their cooperation and support.
