The inauguration of the India-Oman AYUSH Information Cell at KIMS Health Hospital in Darsait marks a significant step in expanding India’s traditional healthcare outreach in Oman. The initiative goes beyond medical awareness, reinforcing the growing partnership between the two friendly nations through healthcare diplomacy, cultural exchange and shared commitment to holistic well-being.
India’s Ambassador to Oman, Prashant Pise, inaugurated the facility on Sunday in the presence of Dr Amir Mustafa, Regional Chief Operating Officer of KIMS Health Oman, alongside doctors, community leaders, dignitaries and Omani friends of India. More than 50 participants attended the event, reflecting the growing interest in traditional medicine and preventive healthcare.
The joint initiative of the Embassy of India in Muscat and KIMS Health Medical Center, under the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, was formalised on the eve of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Oman in December 2025. Its establishment demonstrates India’s determination to expand the international reach of its traditional medical knowledge through credible institutional partnerships.
The information cell will provide authentic information about Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy. It will also organise lectures, seminars and training courses, while connecting healthcare professionals and other stakeholders. Such activities can help residents in Oman understand India’s diverse healthcare traditions through reliable information rather than unverified claims.
Addressing the gathering, Ambassador Pise described the initiative as a reflection of the longstanding friendship between India and Oman. He emphasised its potential to strengthen bilateral relations while increasing awareness of traditional healthcare practices. Dr Amir Mustafa reaffirmed KIMS Health Oman’s commitment to the partnership, underlining the institution’s responsibility to provide dependable information to the public.
The real test of this initiative will be its ability to translate goodwill into meaningful public engagement. Sustained educational programmes, professional exchanges and responsible dissemination of medical information will be essential to its success. India and Oman already share longstanding political, economic and cultural ties. The AYUSH Information Cell adds another dimension to this relationship, creating an opportunity for India’s traditional healthcare heritage to gain greater recognition in Oman while strengthening people-to-people connections between the two countries.
