The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, is joining countries around the world in observing International Youth Day on August 12, reaffirming its commitment to empowering young people and strengthening their contribution to national development. The occasion highlights the vital role of youth as the cornerstone of sustainable development and as key architects of future social, economic and cultural progress. Oman has placed particular emphasis on creating opportunities for young people to participate actively in shaping the country’s present and future.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth affirmed that Omani youth are an integral part of the Sultanate’s development journey. Their ideas, ambitions, skills and energy are regarded as important assets in advancing national priorities and building a prosperous future. As part of its efforts to strengthen youth participation across different areas of national endeavour, the Ministry, through the Directorate General of Youth, has continued to expand communication and engagement initiatives during 2025 and 2026.
These efforts are focused on building stronger bridges between government institutions and young people by providing platforms where youth can express their views, discuss their aspirations and share their perspectives on issues affecting their lives and communities. The Ministry has also sought to provide safe and constructive environments for dialogue, enabling young Omanis to engage meaningfully in discussions and contribute to initiatives designed to enhance their role in society.
The observance of International Youth Day therefore serves not only as an occasion to recognise the achievements and potential of young people but also as a reminder of the importance of investing in their capabilities. For Oman, empowering youth is closely linked to the nation’s long-term development ambitions. By listening to young voices, encouraging participation and creating opportunities for leadership and innovation, the Sultanate seeks to ensure that its younger generation remains an active force in shaping a resilient, progressive and sustainable future.
