In a move that highlights the growing importance of quality and professionalism in the construction industry, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion has launched the National Programme for Enhancing the Efficiency of the Construction Sector. The initiative reflects a clear commitment to strengthening the skills of professionals, improving execution standards, and ensuring that projects across the Sultanate meet the highest approved benchmarks.

Construction plays a central role in national development, shaping infrastructure, housing, and commercial growth. Recognizing this, the Ministry has designed the programme to focus on practical, hands-on learning rather than purely theoretical instruction. The training content directly addresses real challenges faced on construction sites and in project offices. By combining technical guidance with administrative best practices, the programme aims to sharpen the abilities of engineers, contractors, supervisors, and other industry stakeholders. The ultimate goal is to enhance project management, reduce costly errors, and deliver better-quality outcomes.

To make the programme accessible to a wider audience, in-person sessions are being held in several wilayats across different governorates, including Muscat, Nizwa, and Sohar. At the same time, remote participation options have been introduced to allow professionals from other regions to join without the need for travel. This flexible approach ensures that knowledge and expertise can reach as many sector participants as possible, regardless of location.

The programme is being organized under the supervision of the Ministry in collaboration with the “E-Binaa” platform, bringing together both public and private sector expertise. A number of specialized construction companies and suppliers are actively participating, sharing their practical experiences and demonstrating best practices in materials selection, safety standards, and execution techniques. Their involvement adds real-world value to the sessions, giving participants insights that go beyond textbooks.

Beyond immediate training outcomes, the broader ambition of the initiative is to empower national talent and raise the overall professionalism of the construction sector. By improving standards, reducing implementation challenges, and promoting sustainable practices, the programme is expected to strengthen the sector’s contribution to economic growth. Through this initiative, the Ministry is not only investing in skills development but also laying the foundation for a more resilient, efficient, and future-ready construction industry, one that supports the nation’s long-term development goals with confidence and competence.
