Muscat: Oman has officially announced the implementation of the updated GCC Technical Regulation (GSO 2693:2026) for terrestrial digital audio broadcasting (T-DAB+) receivers, marking a significant step toward enhancing the quality, efficiency, and reliability of radio reception devices across the Sultanate. The move reflects the country’s commitment to adopting the latest global broadcasting technologies while ensuring that consumers have access to high-quality digital radio equipment.
The initiative is being implemented through a joint effort involving the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), the Ministry of Defence, and the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion. Their coordinated approach aims to ensure that all radio reception devices introduced into the Omani market comply with the latest technical and performance standards.
The updated regulation establishes comprehensive technical requirements for terrestrial digital audio broadcasting receivers, including T-DAB+, FM, and AM radio systems. It is designed to improve the overall listening experience by ensuring better signal quality, enhanced reception, and greater compatibility with modern digital broadcasting networks.

It also covers various categories of products equipped with radio reception capabilities, such as home and portable radio receivers, integrated vehicle radio systems, aftermarket car radios, and multifunction smart devices.
