Twelve agreements were signed today for the implementation of vital social investment projects in A’Dhahirah Governorate, reflecting a strong commitment to community development in Oman’s mining regions. The projects, valued at approximately RO 1.5 million, are spearheaded by Minerals Development Oman (MDO) in the wilayats of Ibri and Yanqul. These initiatives aim to strengthen community partnerships and promote sustainable development within MDO’s concession areas.
The agreements cover a wide range of sectors including education, innovation, socio-economic prosperity, environmental protection, and health. Specific projects include the construction of a public walkway, empowerment programs for household businesses, paving of internal roads, enhancement of street lighting infrastructure, and educational programmes to raise school students’ awareness about earth sciences and mining.
The signing ceremony was held under the auspices of Tahir bin Mabkhout Al Junaibi, Governor of A’Dhahirah Governorate. His presence underscored the importance of these projects in aligning mining activities with local development goals. These agreements highlight the effective integration of roles between the public and private sectors. By investing in social responsibility, MDO seeks to create lasting positive impact, improve the quality of life for local residents, and ensure that mining operations contribute meaningfully to the well-being of host communities.
Officials described the projects as a practical demonstration of corporate social responsibility in Oman’s growing minerals sector. The initiatives are expected to generate socio-economic benefits, foster innovation among youth, and support environmental sustainability in the governorate. This latest move reinforces Minerals Development Oman’s ongoing efforts to balance economic growth with community prosperity in the Sultanate.
