Children’s toys continue to be among the most popular purchases during school vacations in Kuwait, bringing excitement, entertainment, and learning opportunities to young people enjoying their summer holidays. For many families, toys are more than simple playthings; they help create memorable experiences, encourage creativity, and provide children with enjoyable ways to spend their free time during the long break from school.

The strong demand for toys during holiday periods is clearly reflected in Kuwait’s import figures. According to data released by Kuwait’s Central Statistical Bureau, imports of children’s toys reached approximately KD 54.3 million in 2025, marking a significant increase of 34.7 percent compared with KD 42.3 million in 2024. The annual rise of nearly KD 14.7 million highlights the growing popularity of toys among families across the country.

The increase is part of a broader growth trend within the sector. Between 2021 and 2025, Kuwait imported children’s toys worth around KD 268.2 million. Annual imports stood at KD 54.3 million in 2021, climbed to KD 59 million in 2022, reached KD 55.6 million in 2023, and remained at strong levels in the following years, demonstrating the market’s resilience and steady expansion.

Import patterns show a close connection between toy purchases and school vacation periods. The second quarter of 2025 recorded the highest import value at approximately KD 15.1 million, followed closely by the fourth quarter at KD 15 million. These periods often coincide with summer holidays and other occasions when children have more leisure time, prompting retailers and importers to expand inventories to meet increased consumer demand.

Kuwait’s toy market offers a diverse range of products suitable for different age groups. Educational toys that support cognitive development and motor skills remain highly popular among younger children. Older children are increasingly attracted to bicycles, electric scooters, remote-controlled vehicles, interactive games, and electronic entertainment products that combine fun with modern technology. Despite the rapid growth of digital gaming, traditional toys such as dolls, puzzles, action figures, and building sets continue to enjoy strong demand.

Industry experts note that social media and digital marketing have become important tools for promoting new products, although physical toy stores remain popular because families prefer to inspect products before making purchases. The sector remains an important part of Kuwait’s retail economy, reflecting the enduring importance of childhood recreation and family spending during summer holidays.
