Samajwadi Party National President and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today visited KGMU, Lucknow, and met those who was severely injured in the Aliganj coaching centre fire incident. He inquired about their condition and also discussed the medical treatment being provided to him with the doctors. Former Cabinet Minister Mr. Rajendra Chaudhary and North Assembly constituency candidate Pooja Shukla were also present during the visit.
Mr. Akhilesh Yadav said that if safety regulations had been properly followed, such a major tragedy in Aliganj could have been avoided. He demanded that the government provide financial assistance of ₹1 crore to the affected families. He also urged that all injured victims receive complete medical treatment and that those who were employed continue to receive their full salaries until they recover and are able to return to work.

Speaking to the media outside KGMU, Akhilesh Yadav alleged that the BJP government is consumed by arrogance and neither sees nor understands the concerns of the people. He said that the public witnessed how residents of Akbar Nagar were removed through bulldozer action. Referring to an earlier fire incident, he recalled that the Chief Minister had promised that illegal structures would be demolished within 24 hours using bulldozers.
Questioning the government’s actions, he asked what ultimately happened and whether any action was taken against those responsible. He further alleged that fires had been used as a pretext to displace poor people, while those accountable escaped punishment. Also present on the occasion were Yameen Khan, National General Secretary of the Samajwadi Minority Sabha; Shakeel Nadvi, State President of the Samajwadi Minority Sabha; Adnan Khan; Fakhrul Hasan Chand, party spokesperson; Naveen Dhawan Bunty; and several other senior leaders of the Samajwadi Party.
