Samajwadi Party (SP) National President and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav recently asserted that the party is on course to form the government in Uttar Pradesh after the 2027 Assembly elections, claiming that public sentiment has decisively shifted in favour of the Samajwadi Party due to widespread dissatisfaction with the ruling BJP government. Addressing a large gathering of party leaders and office-bearers from various districts at the Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Auditorium in the party’s state headquarters in Lucknow, Yadav called upon workers to strengthen the organisation at the booth level, describing grassroots mobilisation as the key to securing victory in the upcoming elections.
He urged party members to remain united behind candidates officially nominated by the Samajwadi Party and to ensure complete support for those contesting on the party’s bicycle symbol. Highlighting the growing influence of digital communication, Yadav cautioned party workers against misinformation circulating through traditional and social media platforms. He advised them to exercise restraint in both speech and conduct, refrain from engaging in unnecessary disputes, and avoid making comments based on caste or religion. According to him, disciplined behaviour and responsible communication are essential for maintaining public trust.
Launching a strong political offensive against the BJP government, Yadav alleged that corruption had extended even to donations made at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, while also accusing the state administration of poor infrastructure development. He claimed that roads constructed under the BJP government had deteriorated rapidly due to the use of substandard materials and alleged that the government had failed to deliver genuine development despite extensive publicity campaigns.
The former Chief Minister also criticised the state government’s expenditure on promotional advertisements, arguing that large-scale spending on self-publicity had failed to improve the government’s public image. Referring to the recent Lucknow fire tragedy, Yadav alleged that the Chief Minister’s interaction with a grieving mother drew widespread criticism and reminded people of previous controversies involving his conduct with government officials, academics, and journalists.
Yadav further accused the BJP government of pursuing vindictive politics through alleged misuse of bulldozer actions, false criminal cases, and encounters, while also raising concerns over corruption, custodial deaths, and the deterioration of essential public services such as electricity, water supply, and roads. He maintained that governance should be judged by performance rather than publicity and concluded by stating that excessive reliance on political propaganda could ultimately prove counterproductive for the ruling establishment.
