The Ministry of Justice and the Public Authority for Civil Information have jointly urged citizens and residents across Kuwait to activate their approved electronic signatures. This initiative aims to expand access to a broader range of government and banking services, marking a significant step toward a fully digital public sector.

An electronic signature allows users to authenticate transactions and documents digitally using electronic devices. It eliminates the need for traditional paper-based procedures or in-person visits while retaining full legal validity under Kuwait’s applicable laws. This secure digital tool ensures that agreements and official records carry the same weight as those signed by hand, providing both convenience and legal certainty.

The service will gradually support multiple digital transactions. These include electronic notarization, the issuing and cancelling of powers of attorney, company and institution registration, commercial licensing procedures, and selected banking agreements. By enabling these processes online, authorities seek to reduce administrative burdens, speed up service delivery, and minimize the need for physical presence at government offices or banks.

Activation is straightforward. Citizens can enable their electronic signatures through the “My Identity” application or at self-service kiosks. Residents may complete the process at designated kiosks available at various locations throughout Kuwait. Once activated, the signature becomes a trusted digital credential for interacting with official systems.

Both authorities strongly encourage everyone to activate the service promptly. Doing so ensures convenient, secure, and faster access to current digital government and financial services, as well as those planned for the future. Embracing electronic signatures not only simplifies daily interactions with public institutions but also supports Kuwait’s broader digital transformation goals, fostering efficiency and accessibility for all.
