BY MOHAMMAD TARIQUE SALEEM

Samajwadi Party National President and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav launched a scathing attack on the BJP, accusing it of “murdering democracy” through systematic vote looting and manipulation. Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters in Lucknow, Yadav warned that the BJP’s “Das Nambari Model” has created a ‘Democratic Crime Gang’ of biased officers, profiteering industrialists, and contractors working together to steal people’s rights. Drawing parallels with the 2022 Uttar Pradesh elections and recent West Bengal polls, he alleged widespread irregularities including removal of polling agents, lathi-charges, and preventing women from voting. Yadav demanded live CCTV broadcasting of vote counting and claimed the BJP indulges in “manganna” (manufactured results) instead of genuine vote counting. He asserted that the united PDA front will decisively defeat BJP in 2027, calling it a battle to save democracy and social justice.

Samajwadi Party National President and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has strongly accused the BJP of murdering democracy by looting votes and manipulating election results. Addressing a press conference and workers’ meeting at the party’s state headquarters on May 6, Yadav warned that the BJP’s “Das Nambari Model” is systematically destroying democratic institutions. “BJP is looting votes and killing democracy,” said Akhilesh Yadav.

“A ‘Democratic Crime Gang’ has been formed comprising officers of a particular ideology, profiteering industrialists (dhanaseths), and contractors. They are working together to snatch away the rights of the people.” He drew parallels between the recent West Bengal elections and the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls. Yadav alleged that in 2022, central forces were deployed at counting centres to forcibly remove polling agents, lathi-charged them, and even used revolvers to prevent women from voting. Several seats were allegedly snatched through these tactics.

Akhilesh Yadav claimed that the BJP decides the winners even before the elections. “They don’t conduct matganna (vote counting), they do manganna (manufactured counting),” he said. He demanded that the Supreme Court take suo motu cognizance of the irregularities in West Bengal and make the CCTV footage of the counting process public. “If court proceedings can be broadcast live, why can’t the vote counting process be live? The entire counting should happen in front of CCTV cameras,” he demanded.

Citing concrete evidence, Yadav said the BJP indulges in multi-layered corruption to loot votes. He pointed out that many voters who had cast their votes in 2019 were deleted from the electoral rolls in 2022. The Samajwadi Party submitted affidavits of 18,000 such voters to the Election Commission, but no action was taken against those responsible. Instead, notices were issued to the SP. In seats like Chhibramau, Tirwa, and Shahganj, the margin of victory for the BJP was less than the number of votes that had already been deleted, he alleged.

Referring to the by-elections in Rampur, Kundarki, Milkipur, and Katehari, Akhilesh Yadav presented data to expose BJP’s alleged vote theft. On the massive defeat of BJP in Ayodhya Lok Sabha seat, he said: “The people of Ayodhya punished BJP for the injustice and atrocities committed against them. Farmers and traders were robbed of their land and not given fair compensation. Lord Shri Ram punished BJP for the oppression of his own people.”

In Milkipur, after BJP’s defeat in Ayodhya, the government allegedly targeted an elderly man with false cases and sent a bulldozer to his house and shop. Later, the elderly man was found innocent. Yadav questioned why an officer found guilty in an inquiry conducted by the current DGP was still given responsibility in the election process. He further alleged that unregistered associates of BJP, who once worked in intelligence, are still conducting surveillance at booths. “Their links go abroad, which is why they are frequently travelling overseas these days,” he claimed.

Akhilesh Yadav asserted that the PDA (Pichhda, Dalit, Alpsankhyak) alliance is fully united against the BJP. “95% of PDA is alert and will challenge BJP at every level. In 2024, the INDIA alliance defeated BJP. In 2027, PDA and Samajwadi Party together will smash BJP’s conspiracies and remove it from power permanently.” He accused the BJP of misusing institutions like CBI and ED, spreading hatred, and dividing society. On women’s reservation, he said, “BJP is looting both votes and reservation. It is like applying layer after layer of lies, just like son papdi (a sweet).

The Women’s Reservation Bill was passed with support from all parties, including SP. But BJP does not want to give reservation to backward, Dalit, and minority women. SP has always demanded caste census along with women’s reservation.” He said the BJP does not believe in the Constitution and democracy. “It runs on arrogance of power. Its agenda is to divide society. Samajwadi Party is fighting to save democracy and establish social justice.” He told party workers and leaders that the goal ahead is big and they must work with full dedication. “We have to remain vigilant against BJP’s lies and vote-looting conspiracies and expose them at every step.”

The former Chief Minister also criticized BJP’s economic policies, saying the party works only for big industrialists, which has resulted in inflation and economic exploitation of the common man. On the occasion, Akhilesh Yadav felicitated Aradhana Gupta, a student from Gorakhpur who secured the first position in the ICSE Board exams, by presenting her a laptop and wishing her a bright future.

Senior leaders including former Cabinet Minister Rajendra Chaudhary, State President Shyamlal Pal, and former MLC Dr. Rajpal Kashyap were present. Akhilesh Yadav’s powerful address was not just a political speech, it was a clarion call to protect democracy, ensure social justice, and prepare for a decisive battle in 2027. With PDA unity growing stronger, the Samajwadi Party appears battle-ready to challenge BJP’s alleged politics of vote theft, institutional misuse, and social division.
