Samajwadi Party president and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav launched a blistering political attack on the BJP government, accusing it of turning the machinery of the state into an instrument of oppression, political vendetta and corruption. Addressing party leaders and workers at the Samajwadi Party’s state headquarters on Thursday, Yadav said the BJP had abandoned the basic principles of democratic politics and was surviving through the unchecked misuse of power.
In an unusually sharp attack, Yadav alleged that innocent people were being harassed while criminals and corrupt elements continued to receive protection from those in power. He said the PDA-Pichhda, Dalit and Alpasankhyak—sections were facing systematic oppression and accused the government of using constitutional institutions for political purposes. He also questioned the BJP’s repeated claims of “zero tolerance” against crime, pointing to continuing incidents of murder, robbery and crimes against women.

Yadav said the gap between the government’s claims and the reality on the ground had become impossible to ignore. “Law and order has collapsed,” he alleged, adding that ordinary citizens, particularly women, no longer felt secure. The SP chief also raised serious questions over alleged irregularities concerning offerings and donations at the Ram temple in Ayodhya. He accused the government of failing to act firmly against those allegedly involved and claimed that influential people had been shielded.
According to Yadav, the BJP had repeatedly relied on political conspiracies to weaken its opponents, but the Samajwadi Party possessed the political strength to challenge and defeat those strategies. Expanding his attack, Yadav said the BJP government’s policies had pushed farmers, young people, labourers, traders, the poor and the middle class into deep frustration. He alleged that corruption, commission-based dealings and rising prices had become defining features of the present administration.
He also accused the BJP of targeting senior SP leader Mohammad Azam Khan through a deliberate political conspiracy. Taking up the worsening flood and waterlogging situation in Prayagraj, Yadav questioned the government’s development claims and the enormous sums allegedly spent on infrastructure and Maha Kumbh-related projects. He said the sight of thousands of inundated homes had exposed the hollow nature of the government’s claims of “smart development” and alleged that the situation was a stark reminder of massive corruption.
Yadav dismissed what he described as superficial aerial surveys and challenged the government to step onto the streets and confront the people suffering from floods and waterlogging. He said changing names would not change the government’s intentions or its record. Predicting a decisive political shift in 2027, Yadav said the people of Uttar Pradesh had become fed up with the BJP and were ready to remove it from power. He expressed confidence that a Samajwadi Party government would restore justice, dignity and equal rights for every section of society. SP MP Awadhesh Prasad, national secretary and former cabinet minister Rajendra Chaudhary, along with other party leaders, workers and supporters, were present at the meeting.
