The Public Prosecution in Kuwait has announced the execution by hanging of five convicted individuals at the Central Prison after the completion of all judicial proceedings and the exhaustion of every available legal remedy. According to an official statement, the executions were carried out only after the cases had passed through all stages of litigation, including rulings by courts of first instance, appellate courts, and the Court of Cassation. In certain cases, requests for reconsideration were also submitted, reviewed, and adjudicated before the sentences became final and enforceable.

The Public Prosecution emphasized that the implementation of the death sentences followed strict adherence to legal and constitutional safeguards. Authorities stated that each convicted individual was granted the right to legal representation and afforded full opportunities to defend themselves throughout the investigation and trial processes. The five convicts were found guilty of a range of serious offences, including premeditated murder, attempted murder, kidnapping with the intent to kill or commit assault, rape, unlawful detention, and issuing threats. Additional charges included the illegal possession of firearms, ammunition, and narcotic substances.
The statement identified the executed individuals as three Kuwaiti nationals, one Egyptian resident, and one person classified as an illegal resident. Officials noted that all convictions and sentences had been upheld after extensive judicial review, leaving no further avenues for appeal. The Public Prosecution further confirmed that the executions were implemented only after receiving approval from the relevant judicial authorities and ratification by the highest authorities in the state. It stressed that every procedural step was undertaken in accordance with national laws and established principles of due process.
The Public Prosecution said that the enforcement of these rulings reflects the judiciary’s responsibility to uphold justice, protect society, and preserve the rights and safety of individuals. It added that the implementation of final court judgments serves as a deterrent against serious crimes and reinforces the rule of law. The announcement has once again brought attention to the continued application of capital punishment in Kuwait and the broader debate surrounding its role within criminal justice systems worldwide.
