Kuwait Ambassador to India Meshal Mustafa Al-Shemali has reaffirmed the depth and strength of the historic relations between Kuwait and India, describing the ties between the two friendly countries as deeply rooted in decades of commercial, cultural and human exchanges. Al-Shemali made the remarks on August 15 while participating in the annual Independence Day celebrations held at the Presidential Palace in New Delhi, marking the 80th anniversary of India’s independence.
On the occasion, the Kuwaiti ambassador extended his warmest congratulations and best wishes to the leadership and people of the Republic of India. He praised the Indian people’s long journey toward freedom, development and prosperity, highlighting the country’s distinctive tradition of pluralism and diversity that has characterized its national experience over the decades.
Al-Shemali emphasized that Kuwait and India share a longstanding relationship whose roots go back many generations, predating the establishment of formal diplomatic relations in their current form in the early 1960s. He noted that the historical bond between the two countries has continued to develop and expand, covering a wide range of areas, including political cooperation, trade, investment, economic partnerships and exchanges that serve the mutual interests of both nations.
The ambassador also praised the positive contribution of the Indian community living in Kuwait, describing it as a vital and living bridge connecting the peoples of Kuwait and India. The large Indian community has played an important role in strengthening social, cultural and economic links and in reinforcing the spirit of friendship between the two countries. The ambassador’s remarks underscore the enduring nature of Kuwait-India relations and the shared commitment of both sides to further strengthening cooperation and expanding mutually beneficial partnerships in the years ahead.
